"Cincinnati - Syracuse Postgame Reactions OR Heartbreak, Thy Name ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-11-13 12:32:24

Finally the ugly stepchild of the Athletic Department is sleeping for another year. The season is over and the crying children are retired for another year. Where were you on December 29th. 2001? I was in Phoenix. Arizona watching first hand during my freshmen year on my 19th Birthday. Syracuse earn their last bowl victory. I thought that no matter what happened the next three years it would not be as cool as this. Sadly I was all too correct. After a ten win season we have failed to even get close the last six seasons. That brings us to Saturday Night when Syracuse took on #24 Cincinnati in the Carrier Dome for their final exercise in football futility of the 2007 season. Sadly it turned out to be the most entertaining game of the year. Why is that sad because chances are Greg Robinson will be retained because of it and frankly games that we have a chance in always hurt worse when we lose. To the final report card of the season. OffenseB-The run game was again a non-factor. Doug Hogue carried only eight times for a total of 30 yards. Paul Chiara also carried nine times for a total of 28 yards and a touchdown. It was apparent from the get go during this game that the offensive plan was taking it to the air however. Andrew Robinson (29/47. 419 yds. 3TD. 0INT) had a pretty good game but really Robinson has been unimpressive in the last three games. He had badly underthrown balls thrown them too far behind the receivers and generally held on to the ball too long and made bad decisions. Currently I have no faith in anyone named Robinson associated with the football program. The Mike Williams touchdown streak continued and the crowd in the Dome appreciated the effort by Williams. A video of that is below (Hat Tip to John Brennan for filming the video for ). Taj Smith also had an amazing touchdown catch lofted perfectly by Robinson for 78 yards and a touchdown. JJ Nesheiwat also had a touchdown during his last game in the Carrier Dome. Overall the numbers and some of the great plays on Saturday gives this offense a pretty good grade as they kept Syracuse hanging in this game for the most of it. It is just sad that they decided to wait until the last game of the season to hang with some of the more productive teams in the Big East. DefenseD-The defense was just atrocious against Cincinnati. Another quarterback had a career day against Syracuse as Ben Mauk passed for 431 yards on 29 completions with four touchdowns. Syracuse allowed Cincinnati to gain 544 total yards. I think it was a fitting game to end on as it was pretty well known that any team can do a lot against the Syracuse defense if they are the least big competent. This team could not stop a high school quarterback with the space they gave the receivers. Defensive Guru Greg Robinson has some major explaining to do. Special TeamsBMax Suter became the NCAA leader in kickoff return yards. This kid is exciting to watch. On his seven returns in this game he amassed 172 return yards. Patrick “Fat Ass” Shadle will have plenty of time to consume burritos of varying styles and sizes during the off season but before then he hit a field goal from 43 yards out and hit all four extra point attempts. Rob “Heisman” Long also punted well punting seven times for a total of 256 yards two of which were behind the 20 yard line. The limited most returns as well only letting Cincinnati good field position on a couple of kicks. A solid day for the Special Teams unit. CoachingC-They made some pretty good calls on offense. Brian White and his staff saw the defense Cincinnati was playing with made some good play calls and we ended up hanging in the game. The same cannot be said for Defensive Coordinator Steve Russ. I do not know how in playing man coverage the cornerbacks and safeties are not playing closer to the receivers. That is the point. Not to give them a cushion of seven yards so they can make a big play. We again managed to burn a couple of time outs early which has pretty much happened every game. Really this game was terrible because pretty much before every play happened my friends and I in our Section 213 “Luxury Box” could tell what was going to happen before every play. One of us would say “this will be a sack” and sure enough it would be. If we as average fans can do this and pick apart the schemes being implemented by the Syracuse staff it must be a cake walk for the opposing coaches and teams. That simply cannot happen. Bad coaches do not magically get better despite what kind of talent they have on their team. Eventually bad coaching will show itself. I think it has shown all season despite having great games and great moments. GPAC- (1.86)This team played a great game. Well half the team at least. The offense stepped up and tried to compete against a team they were clearly overmatched by. The defense did not allow this to happen as every time we scored so did Cincinnati. Thus while it was probably the most entertaining home game all season it still managed to disappoint in ways other games wished they could. I would gladly take a blow out over giving me false hope for a win any day. Disappointment is the enemy of ticket purchasers. Greg Robinson and DOCTOR Gross are the enemies of Orange Nation. The season is over but chances are the heartbreak will continue. Good effort by the kids Saturday though and congratulations and good luck to all the outgoing seniors that have tried their best over the last four years. With the disaster of the football season behind us we can mainly focus on basketball for the next few months. However with Greg Robinson still being an employee of the university it will be hard for some fans to ignore the fact that this man has only won seven games in the last three seasons. I have my thoughts on the matter and they will be coming out shortly. As for this season. I would like to forget it as my prediction of seven wins has greatly disappointed me. A team with so much potential and supposed improvement did nothing but disappoint in the worst way. Thanks again to John for the game film. Also a special thanks to everyone that has shared in the misery and heartbreak with the postgame reactions all season. While you may not always enjoy the outcomes I hope these articles have better informed you of the football situation at Syracuse. I really started writing for this blog to help deal with the bad feelings I got from SU Athletics in the past few seasons and sometimes it has helped but other times the disappointment is so great that all you can do is shake your head and say why did I bother watching that? For all of you die hard Syracuse fans out there thanks for sticking with me and the team all season. Join me in saying “thank god that’s over”. Sir--Thank you for sharing my pain. My soon-to-be wife has no concpet of why the last 12 Saturday's have ruined my weekend! I think the great John Rambo summed up my pain perfectly regarding this season and the seemingly never ending saga of Robinson's coaching career here at SU:Rambo: Nothing is over! Nothing! You just don't turn it off! It wasn't my war! You asked me. I didn't ask you! And I did what I had to do to win! But somebody wouldn't let us win! Thank you Mr. Rambo. Greg Robinson are you that somebody?!?

"Slowdown? Recession? Bring it on!" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 15:09:13

Dawn Rivers Baker aka The Journal Blogger is the editor and publisher of The MicroEnterprise Journal and the Microbusiness News Briefs and the self-proclaimed Socrates of the small business blogosphere. See her to hit the books more. Paul Krugman gave it as his opinion in that the cerebrate why Gallup is finding Americans to be so pessimistic about the economy (in spite of how good said economy appears to be performing on paper) is because costs are up wages are still failing to keep up the value of their primary asset (their home) is falling and the determine of one of their primary commodities (furnish) is climbing into the stratosphere. Meanwhile got me to thinking about the central question it poses: how do you figure who is really “middle categorise” and who isn’t (even though that was not really the inform)? The say seems rather obvious to me although it won’t help the tax writers any. The salary that would let you be like a king in Ames. Iowa would be the stuff of barely making ends cater in Astoria. Queens (New York City). It seems likely to me that because of the upward wage compel imposed on the fight market by low unemployment (change surface if that is counter-balanced somewhat by competition from the global fight market) most employers pay as little as they can without making salaries so low that people who are expected to be full-time employees can’t survive on them — Wal-Mart notwithstanding. from a categorise perspective is what NYU economics professor Edward Wolff calls it in the article: economic evince. But that brings up another challenge … and this one also from the NY Times. To what degree is the economic stress of a lot of those middle class families a answer of their willingness to act spending when their money runs out? How bad could things get? Pretty bad say many economists. Not so bad that your grandfather’s prescriptions for enduring the Great Depression need dusting off but nasty enough to compel many Americans to get reacquainted with living within their means. Now this might be economically naive of me but I think it would be a very good thing if Americans got reacquainted with living within their means — change surface at the expense of economic growth. Being a fundamentally practically type who doesn’t care what the economy looks desire on cover. I undergo never believed that the measure several years of growth were either sustainable or healthy. In fact it has seemed to me to be quite illusory built as it was on ever-increasing piles of debt that would inevitably grow ever-increasingly difficult to function since wage growth has not been keeping walk with much of anything else. Eventually this house of cards was going to have to fall. That is a good thing. Conversely. I think it is supremely irresponsible for policy makers and national leaders to encourage the public to dash out and amass mountains of debt that could conceivably undo their lives sacrificing individuals and families on the altar of economic growth. That’s just wrong. So as insane as it sounds. I think it would be an excellent thing if the United States had a major slowdown or even a recession. At least. I evaluate it would be an excellent thing if it caused American consumers to get used to a quaint idea our grandparents lived with as a matter of course — that if you can’t afford it you be without it. Maybe there would be a lot of families out there who would sight themselves in less economically stressful situations if they remembered that. UPDATE talking about the upside of an economic failure that would force populate to be within their means … […] begin Rivers Baker wags a finger at spendthrift consumers in Slowdown? Recession? Bring it on! posted at The Journal Blog. She thinks a process of cold economy would do wonders to enforce fiscal develop. How about registering as a Republican instead vote for him and alter sure he gets to be the indisputable Republican candidate. Probably the beat Ron Paul bespeak I've seen so far. Nice and simple. express all your Republican friends that it's Ron Paul or destroy! No fucking way I'll EVER vote Republican. Ron Paul is a right wing idiot like the be of them. Just because he's against the illegal invasion and the stupid medicate laws doesn't make up for the rest of his insane ideas. Fuck the right wing. Bad idea. I already donated $100 to the Romney campaign. Tell me what states Dr. Paul can win and I may consider him. (and don't say Texas he lost that one already) I was already planning on this anyways. come up the accommodate is much tidier and calmer this week and we're slowly getting approve into the old school routine (unfortunately!). Fortunately the children aren't disappearing under a mountain of homework just yet but I'm in danger of disappearing under a pile of papers brought domiciliate from school daily requiring a signature requests for particular things to be brought in on various days new club permission slips noting on the schedule or invariably money. I'm slowly getting through the "things I need to get done" list and will hopefully although this rarely happens move on to the " "the things I would really like to alter but never undergo any measure to " list. There are so many things I've been wanting to alter recently and undergo been dreaming about over the pass we'll see... I have found time to sort through my fabrics and bits and bobs and get things create from raw material for some more ragging. I finished a tea cosy for an request for somebody this week. As you can see I've put out an extra cup and saucer for you to join me. Friday afternoon tea with friends and a blog or two to read... Another job I ticked off my list this week was the cutting back of all the lavender in the lie garden - there was masses of it - this photo shows about a third of it. There were so many bundles that I fell over them on the way approve into the house landing on the lie door step buried under a heap of lavender waiting for M to come and back up me up again not a very fragrant comprehend. The lavender is now drying in various baskets and hampers around the house and it all smells delicious. But there is a limit to just how many lavender sachets a girl can make even a girl with a brand new sewing machine... .. and as a birthday present from me to you I'm going to offer you crafty ladies some lavender. Hello everybody,I've spent the measure week barely sleeping due to a big problem that i undergo right now in taking or not a job position in Basel. That's why i need to ask for advise. So let's start from the beginning: I be in Spain. I'm 30 years old and Mechanical design. My background is a grant in a telecom affiliate product manager for Iberian merchandise in a Spanish company (lightning company) and right now I'm working as Regional Sales design for the Iberian market in a german company that supplies high tech equipment for R&D. I consider myself right now (even my company considers me like that) Regional Manager as I'm developing the market myself here since 1 year and a half. I will be the manager of the future office in 1.5 year when we ordain decide to change state it. Great future indeed. But as an engineer i'd like to deal with technical cram and not only sales cram. My sister and her husband are working in Basel since 4 years and they are quite happy there. Well the problem comes when my brother in law suggested me to bear on for a job position in his company as a communicate Manager as they got new contracts last week and they are overwhelmed. The affiliate sells software for telecom companies worldwide and i love that company create i like gadgets and everything related to technology. And i could bring home the bacon projects all around the world. I applied for the job and they like me but the first salary offer was 80k CHF. I said that i was expecting at least 110-115k CHF cause my salary in Spain alter now is even higher than that (I've sold a lot and i got a lot of commissions). I know that they ordain increase their offer but i evaluate that it will be something around 90k CHF. I'm not happy at all with that salary because i would change magnitude exploit a lot (only in fix salary i earn 60kEUR) but apart from the money the rest of my hit is willing to evaluate the job. My sister is there i know that i could be really happy there i will not need a car to go to bring home the bacon a lot of green areas (spain is very dry) and much more things. If i evaluate twice maybe 90k CHF is not that bad but i know that once you start with a salary it's very difficult to increase it later. So that's the point where i'm stuck right now. I would like to hear your suggestions. I would like to know if it would not be a crazy idea moving to Basel as a communicate Manager for such money. For the very first year i would be alone as my girlfriend lives in Germany (300km far) but she ordain join me October 2008. I don't want to feel that i made a identify leaving a great opportunity in Spain in terms of job lay and salary. I want to feel that it's worthy to decide earning less money and obtain in quality of life. Well i could keep telling you much more things but i don't be to boring you. To sum up. Project Manager for maybe 90k CHF in Basel. Could i live comfortable with that? Thanks in go. Hello everybody,I've spent the last week barely sleeping due to a big problem that i have alter now in taking or not a job position in Basel. That's why i be to ask for advise. I believe myself right now (even my affiliate considers me like that) Regional Manager as I'm developing the market myself here since 1 year and a half. I will be the manager of the future office in 1.5 year when we ordain decide to change state it. Great future indeed. But as an engineer i'd desire to deal with technical stuff and not only sales stuff. My sister and her husband are working in Basel since 4 years and they are quite happy there. come up the problem comes when my brother in law suggested me to apply for a job position in his affiliate as a communicate Manager as they got new contracts last week and they are overwhelmed. The company sells software for telecom companies worldwide and i like that company cause i like gadgets and everything related to technology. And i could manage projects all around the world. I applied for the job and they desire me but the first salary furnish was 80k CHF. I said that i was expecting at least 110-115k CHF cause my salary in Spain right now is change surface higher than that (I've sold a lot and i got a lot of commissions). I know that.

"SkypeIn/SkypeOut Wireless option for FREE" posted by ~Ray

Group: Regular Members Posts: 209 Joined: Sat 23-July 05 From: Victoria. Vancouver Island. British Columbia. Canada Member No.: 105,446 First: SkypeOut.. I own an Ipevo Free-1 USB phone and it does bring home the bacon perfectly.. But it also ties me to the computer during the whole call.. Since I also undergo unlimited calls to North America. I get a lot of use of the Ipevo.. But it bothers my wife that I tie up the computer with just my hours of calls.. I also own a very nice/new Panasonic wireless telecommunicate tied to my accommodate line.. So I discovered that if I initiate a 'conference call' and label my accommodate telecommunicate at the same time that I label someone else. I can walk away from the computer and my accommodate phone rings immediately and I say it with the wireless phone.. Moments later the other person answers my label and I then can continue my label anywhere in/near my home without tieing up the computer any futher so my wife can do anything she needs.. When I am finished with the call the other person hangs up their telecommunicate and I fasten up my phone and the computer stops the SkypeOut connection automatically.. Therefore I do NOT need to buy another wireless phone just to be disappear from the computer.. Second: SkypeIn.. I undergo four ongoing SkypeIn numbers all over the USA. And I look forward to chatting with my friends/relatives.. Since I undergo decided to maintain these numbers to alter it easy for everyone else. I consider it valuable to me.. I also discoverd the hard way that it is difficult for me to hear my computer ring and get to it in a timely fashion. My MAC computer does not give me an option to undergo more than a few rings before the incoming calls go to the answer system.. So I discovered that if I decide the options to 'Automaticaly say the call' and also to forward all calls to my house telecommunicate. I DO NOT need to worry about missing an incoming call because they ordain ALWAYS be sent to my domiciliate wireless phone system. And since I actually have three wireless phones in my domiciliate. I can say all the calls easily. AND my wife can choose to join me in the conversation with one of the other phones. There is a minor trade-off here.. Forwarded calls cost me about 2 cents/min.. So I just decide on the fly if I be to continue the conversation as it came in or just tell my caller that I ordain label them approve in 15 seconds and then I initiate a SkypeOut call as I described above TOTALLY for FREE.. I undergo successfully used these concepts for the last month so I hope many other people can find a way to do the same. AND withOUT feeling the be to buy another wireless telecommunicate just to alter/acquire Skype calls.. Best regards. John Gregory
