First let me say I am sorry as this will probably not be so difficult for most but I have been all over this site and others reading everything I could find and trying every combination of boot settings from linux users from other forums I belong to and decided it best to join here and ask make that beg and plead for assitance. I also checked on the suse site and found so much but somehow haven't managed to fix my issues. As a side not the dependicies thing is a bit frustrating when trying to install Skype finally got it installed but it attempts to load for 30 seconds and then it is gone.. but that is of little importance right now. (I should have been more careful but this is a work machine which I thought I would keep safe by using seperate drives so hopefully someone can describe the exact items to edit as I need to be able to get back into Windows more than I need the linux working just wanted to learn more about it and possibly someday migrate to it as a main OS) Also allow me to thank anyone and everyone that replies. I am at your mercy here. I have tried to include as much information as clearly stated as possible. I need my hand held possibly but managed to figure out how to get this info which is I hope a decent start.. on to the specifics:Ok. I have a Windows XP installation on an IDE 80GB HDD and a load of Suse 10.3 on a 36GB SATA. In the BIOS the 36GB (suse) drive is first and the 80GB (xp) is second if I switch them around grub boot loader will not load the current setup allows me to boot into suse where I am now but Windows fails to load returning an error of:rootnoverify (hd0,4)chainloader (/dev/sda1,0)+1Error 23: Error while parsing numberPress any key to continue... Now I have made a backup of my menu lst and am copying it here in hope someone can suggest a solution.# Modified by YaST2. I boot from a external USB drive and Windows is on an internal drive this is kind of similar to your situation. This is my Windows Entry to load Windows from a second drive that was not the boot drive. ###Don't change this comment - YaST2 identifier: Original name: windows###title Windows XP Professional rootnoverify (hd1,1) chainloader (hd1,0)+1 map (hd0) (hd1) map (hd1) (hd0)Thank You,
I have copied this information and will will try it out but wished to ask first.. so long as I leave the Suse portion alone it seems I won't make matters any worse just curious if the mapping could in any way affect the suse portion thanks for your reply!EDIT: Ok. I tried what you suggested what is weird is that I typed it as you have it here then I double-checked it and it looked EXACT then I rebooted and got almost the same error as I had been getting but slightly different makes no sense the way it returned this error because before the reboot it looked identical to yours. This is the somewhat new error:rootnoverify (hd0,4)chainloader ((hd1,0) )+1then it was the Error 23: parsing etc. etc and then press any key.. just like posted above. Perhaps I am somehow using the editor wrong? What I do is open YaST and type the password then click System then Boot Loader then it scans and I have a few tabs. I then go to Other near the bottom right and cick that choosing Edit Configuration Files then a dropdown menu called Filename is offered from which I select /boot/grub/menu lst and below that the File Contents where I then proceed to edit the appropriate lines which are no longer matching yours like before the reboot and now look like I listed above... I am stumped on how/why this happens and why it autosetup/configured things this way to begin with hopefully this is actually easily resolvable although it doesn't seem that way currently.
To be sure you must edit the file /boot/grub/menu lst as root. If you go through the KDE menu system pick "/system/file manager/file manager - super user mode" and enter the root password. Navigate to the folder /boot/grub and elect to edit the file menu lst using an editor like Kate. Make sure you save your changes and then restart. The entry you are seeing is not what I have requested you use. I don't know how you are changing this file and if those changes are being saved. Further I am assuming grub is loaded on the same boot drive that SuSE is loaded on and your BIOS is booting SuSe properly and it will run. Thank You,

I was using Yast to go to system and boot loader when i change like yours it switches to the odd look above and grub is using the suse hdd which in bios is the first drive and suse does boot if it is listed as the secondary in bios it won't load anything not even grub. Thx again will see if I can figure out how to click the right things to edit the file without using yast and the boot loader applet. EDIT: Ok thank you for your step by step as it allowed me to open and configure the file without it switching it stayed the same this time but it returned a new error message now.. rootnoverify (hd1,1)chainloader (hd1,0) +1Error 1: Filename must be either an absolute pathname or blocklistPress any key to continue... I am happy that it retained setting this time man if ever there is a next time I guess allowing an automatic grub config to occur while installing suse isn't such a wise move.

YES!!! Success and to think it was the rearrange switching to that order with map preceding chainloader solved the problem! I cannot express my gratitude but I thank you for this solution. I have to go out of town tomorrow but hope to learn more from this forum and hopefully not have too many annoying questions my next problem will be to get skype to launch. Only other thing for right now that I would like to know though is how would I if or when it needs to happen how would I go back to having only the Windows drive in the system? I do not wish to remove the drive but eventually if the need arises is that a simple thing to remove the suse and leave the windows hdd and return it to a functional state? I know it won't boot alone as I tried that already out of desperation when the problem first came about. Thanks again!!!
may have te retry that. I had the xp only drive connected and it wouldn't boot without the suse hdd for some reason at that point I figure mbr related issues. Now messing with it for now hopefully for awhile as I need to get some things done then worry about it later on thanks again for the ultimate solution. I had several times tried it but with the lines in a different order seemed everyone suggested that order unsure why/how you thought to swap the map lines and chainloader lines but it worked and that's all that matters to me!!!
Given all the information above and the fact things are still working fine in both Suse and XP. I do need the information on removing the Suse drive and leaving the XP drive. I plan to switch the Suse install to another drive problem it seems is that if I remove the Suse hard drive I get only a Grub error since it cannot be found so I take it to mean the MBR of XP has been affected? I either need to try fix /mbr or fix /boot I assume.. or is there another way with Grubs involvement? So long as I lose none of the data on the XP drive there isn't any issues. I just need to get the hdd Suse is on and use it for another purpose one of the other spares will become the replacement and have Suse or maybe another distro as I am attempting to figure out which I prefer. I think though it will end up being Suse and probably moved to another pc altogether. Thanks!
Sorry bud. I thought because the other was considered solved it would require a second. I moderate on a forum (windows based mostly obviously) and generally if the problem is different then many times a new request is made not always but usually thanks as you may notice I solved the problem one with of several solutions I found.
Windows XP Pro Upgrade

 <modified>2007-12-15T15:10+00:00

Yesterday I upgraded my Desktop and Laptop PC’s to Windows XP Pro. I wanted to undergo them join my domain here at home so I wouldn’t undergo to type my username and password in all the time.
First one I did was my Desktop. I ran a fresh lay after the upgrade failed very badly. (Video separate wouldn’t accept) So with a fresh lay of XP Pro I joined it to the Domain which is served by my Ubuntu Linux server. Joining it was no problem. This is how I did it
Now you need to restart your computer. Now here where I had another problem. All Domain Controllers have a logon bat script witch is run every time any user logs on to a computer within the communicate. Now in my home we have never had Windows XP Pro so this is the steps I had to go through to get it working. On the server there is a dance server that basically communicate on the windows protocol. I followed on how to setup the server.
Ok now I’ll get to the good move. In the /etc/dance/smb conf file there is few lines that read this…
So that worked fine when I was connecting manually to the shares but now that I want permissions and such working I need this logon bat to bring home the bacon. After going through a few Google Search pages I figured out how to get this to work. All I had to do was add the lie “path = /home/netlogon” So when I was done though’s few lines it looked desire this…
So now your asking your self “Why didn’t he use Z:?” ordain I didn’t because I specified Z: as the mounting point for the users domiciliate directory in the smb conf. So now I can logon and off my computer with go. My dad and sister can logon my computer and have access to all there files and none of myna.
Next I’m going to talk about upgrading my laptop. Now I ran the upgrade from XP Home to Pro. Every thing went come up process I started using certain things. First thing I notices was Windows Updates would not run. It said there was 34 to lay but when I would run them they would all fail. The second thing I noticed was Internet investigate 6 was installed. So again I went to my good friend explore and started searching. A few people have had this problem and the easiest way to fix it was to alter a simple group file. I ordain go through this step by go.
A command cause window should pop-up then disappear. Now if I run Windows Updates all install will work. Basically XP Pro grade took out all the patches that XP domiciliate had. But XP Pro didn’t know what was already there. So by running “regsvr32″ we tolled windows that. Hey these files are here. Windows Updates is now fully functional.
come up wish this helps you in your indevers of Windows and Linux. If you undergo any questions or comments gratify affix them on the.
Download XP Service Pack 3 Before Its Official Release

 <modified>2007-12-09T13:28+00:00

As a Windows XP power user. I undergo been really disappointed with Vista - but that’s a story for another time (personally I view it as what XP SP3 be and not a new OS but I tell). I had really high hopes for XP Service Pack 3 (XP SP3). I was really hoping that Microsoft included some great additions just like they did with Service case 2. I really wanted Windows File System (WinFS) and Unix Integration so when I stumbled onto. I flipped out!
You should always be careful when downloading a command or batch register from the web. Upon clicking my link below. Firefox users will be able to see the code before downloading it. Internet Explorer users will be prompted to open or deliver the register. After you save it to your desktop right-click and select “alter” to view the contents.
What you are doing is adding a Registry Key that the Windows Update site reads. This key tells Windows Update that your forge is a beta tester and allows it to download SP3 before the official release which is slated for release sometime in 2008. The version of SP3 (as of this writing) is.
I must say that I am completely disappointed. First off when function Pack 2 was released there were a lot of improvements to the operating system: Wireless Zero was massively overhauled and the Windows Security Center was new and shiny - and that’s just two of them - and in addition it included all of the security patches. I was really hoping that Microsoft would include some new features into SP3 and I haven’t found a hit new program. I’ve looked everywhere that I can evaluate of and haven’t seen anything new. Microsoft has been very tight lipped about what will be included in SP3 and it is entirely possible (though not likely) that the there are different versions of SP3 on the Windows modify server and this is just the “security version” - hopefully there are new features on the official channel….
Honestly though. I doubt it. With the poor adoption evaluate of Windows Vista. I really doubt that Microsoft would include any “wiz-bang” features into XP as that would just keep populate from upgrade to Vista. Hopefully. Vista SP1 ordain as much as an improvement as XP SP2 was.
come up. I want to say that I didn’t care that Vista was so delayed in its channel. I was of the object set that Microsoft should hammer out all of the bugs and tweak all of the great new features.
That being said there were no “great new features”. WinFS disappeared as well as the indexed search. WTF?!
Next. Aero sucks. Sure it’s pretty but this eye candy is way too resource intensive to confirm its use. Especially since it doesn’t really add any enhanced usability.
I also undergo a problem with the new networking scheme. It’s too dumbed drink for me (I can say that about most of Vista’s features) – I’m a cater user and I don’t acknowledge being treated as an idiot. Let me do what I be and don’t compel me into letting the OS do it for me.
I can go on and on but I won’t. I will cerebrate with this: As I said in this article the included features make Vista look like a function case for XP and not a brand new contemporary operating system. There are not enough new features to warrant the hefty determine tag (or the ridiculous be of different versions). The OS is bloated & resource intensive and it doesn’t provide the end user with an improved or enhanced experience. New OS’s should improve – they should kick faster be more useable and almost be transparent.
The more I see of Mac’s and Linux machines the more I be to use them (that’s not a good thing coming from a fan of Microsoft).
Vista does undergo some new features and improvements - BUT they are not monument enhancements from XP; they are “baby steps” the kind that are included in function packs.
A new operating system especially one that comes from a major corporation that employs hundreds of programmers and backed by billions of dollars should be the most state-of-the-art OS the world has ever seen. It should have populate flocking toward it (as Apple’s Leopard did) and not requesting a grade from computer manufactures.
Uhm obviously XP SP3 is not that great..1. Its not out yet for a cerebrate… its not desire it costs anything and if it were fully developed they would let us download it already…2. Vista Came out so their working on improving its instabilities not on XP’s new features3. Do you change surface know why the function packs are made in command???
I don’t really like Vista all that much. Before it even came out and even more so after. I’ve heard from loads of people that Vista sucks. I believed them but WOW (aha… remember Vista’s slogan? the WOW starts now) I didn’t expect it to be this bad!
If you don’t turn UAC off you pretty much can’t do half of the things you should be able to. And everything needs to be confirmed. Really. Why would I manifold move something if it was accidental? And if you turn UAC off you kinda have to move the security notifications off or it will keep bugging you that “UAC IS OFF LAWL”. Yeah I know. I turned it off. Now I don’t get alerts about other thing.
What’s WinFS? and also indexed searching is still here i think. Try searching for indexing options on your start menu. Not sure if that’s what you meant.
zipped compressed files disappeared (never used them anyway used/still use winrar) register type hold back disappeared (icon open with alter with other right click options).
and they comfort haven’t included multiple desktops or customizable taskbars and such…
and in command it’s extremely hard to find the “advanced” options for everything you undergo to click through multiple links to finally get to the settings summon that you’re looking for or you undergo to go directly to the registry.
and i don’t think you can edit the kick loader either they should add one with mac/linux support. And maybe alter it a graphical bootloader.
it’s missing a lot going by your logic i’d say it’s more of a windows xp sp -1 or desire a Windows XP: Computer Beginners edition.
As for UAC they’re trying to emulate they way Linux & Mac’s command user roles - in either OS you’re account is a regular user not a system administrator (like any Windows based system). If you want to dress anything on the system aim you need to supply an administrator’s password. Microsoft tried to bend this (better) system and ended screwing it up….
on another say i doubt xp sp3 will undergo very much even on the final version they said they’ll provide minimal support for xp for a while but they’re mostly working on vista sp1 as well as the next OS after vista (codenamed vienna i evaluate?)
How can you say you are disappointed? You hacked your OS to lay a channel CANIDATE. And as you adjudge yourself. “this is just the “security version” - hopefully there are new features on the official release”.
I too believe myself a “Windows XP cater user”… but will wait for the official (end full featured and shelter) release.
communicate find Protection compatibility: Announced years ago this feature allows Windows XP machines to interact with the NAP feature in Windows Server 2008. This functionality is built into the RTM version of Windows Vista as well.

 <modified>2007-11-27T20:07+00:00

While I don't desire to be on the bleeding edge of new technology and software. I do like to be on the leading advance where possible so when was released late last year on I installed it on a machine at home liked the be of it and then put it on my work forge (wiping the hard drive first as it needed a good tidy up anyway).
At first I liked it. The new user interface looked polish and a cut above the Windows+Tab 3D effect looked very nice indeed and I even liked the way the new communicate bar turned into buttons so going up several folder levels involved less clicking. After installing all the software I use I even got used to living with the popups - although I eventually turned the whole thing off and ran as an administrator since most of my measure at bring home the bacon is spent working with and which both require you to run as an admin if you be to do any debugging. I experience it's "wrong" but I've never once had a computer virus or piece of spyware so I wasn't concerned.
All was come up for a while but as measure passed I started to get more and more frustrated with Vista. For one thing it's significantly slower than XP. My work machine is a dual core P4 3GHz with 1.5GB of RAM so isn't a lightweight. But run a couple of instances of Visual Studio. Outlook and a few other apps and it would grind to a halt in a way it didn't with XP. I'd spend a lot of measure looking at the 'color check of Misery' (alter - question attach added for emphasis).
So I had to hit the books to be more patient between starting a debugging session and anything actually happening. I realised that if I was in a hurry I was going to get annoyed so I relaxed a bit. But then Visual Studio started to crash. A lot. And in a multitude of different ways. desire so:
It would come down in the middle of it sitting around doing nothing. It would crash when I was debugging some code. It would come down when I closed it. When I opened it. Just any time it felt like it - and it was driving me crazy! Writing software is something that you need to be able to change state for extended periods of time to do well - and when your forge is flaky and falling over frequently requiring numerous reboots you just can't get anything done. (And before you ask it was indeed doing the same before I disabled UAC - it wasn't spyware or a virus it's just the standard behaviour that I and my colleagues who installed it came across). I even went as far as to completely uninstall Visual Studio and put it all back on again. No dress.
Vista's nifty feature of being able to check for problem solutions from the web wasn't very handy either (right). As with most things that don't work when you've tried them numerous times I gave up checking for solutions when it never found any.
I started considering wiping my work machine and re-installing XP and the more crashes I came across doing my day job the stronger my feelings got. Eventually I had a bad day where I got hardly anything done and I actually had a lot of work to do but every time I started something Visual Studio crashed and I had to almost go away again. I cracked and copied all my documents onto an external hard drive. The next morning I got out an XP SP2 CD and put it back on.
Here I am a week later and I don't regret my act one bit. XP is much faster. Visual Studio is rock solid again and hasn't crashed once. I can safely say that while there are indeed some really nice new features to Vista (I'll probably write about them once the bitterness has gone). I don't desire anything at all about it. Not a thing. I've read about loads of problems with Vista and graphics cards other pieces of hardware iTunes and that sort of thing but my work forge really only has Visual Studio. Outlook and a bring together of web browsers running. Nothing special and no on-the-edge hardware. And yet myself and my colleagues who took the plunge have open that Vista just doesn't cut it as a day-to-day development system. What finally made me turn back to XP was the fact that the other developers who stuck with XP weren't having any crashes at all.
I can only join the chorus of people who say that Vista really isn't worth upgrading to for the time being if you're a software developer. I'll have in mind that my good lady's laptop - which is used exclusively for surfing the internet - is running Vista and has been as solid as a move back and forth since I installed it so I'm not saying Vista isn't ready for most populate's uses. It just isn't create from raw material for mine or anybody who does the same sort of work as me.
See. I wrote a whole post about Windows Vista and never once mentioned how much more. That's for another day!
Did exactly the same and deleted Vista and re-installed XP but since buying the Mac on yours and John’s recommendation. I’ve burnt my Pc and ordain never? be back. I like my mac too makes me feel all change and cuddly using it. Can’t act for leopard.
They respond to their customer’s wishes and after years start to prioritise security ahead of backwards-compatibility then everyone complains that all their software is broken! Vista’s a real dog though. Windows XP runs a interact on my Mac under Parallels whereas Vista seems hell-bent on destroying the hard disk bearings because it thrashes so much.
Thanks Paul! And yes. I’ve never looked back from getting my Mac. In fact. I’m getting rid of my old home PC since I know I’ll never use it over my Macbook!
I experience what you convey John it saddens me a bit that MS undergo screwed up with Vista - especially when you be at the original enumerate of features that were supposed to be in it. Microsoft have been amazing over the years at shipping software but in this case they just haven’t met their high standards. I’ve never rolled back a Microsoft product that’s RTM’d before but doing it this time was the alter decision for me.
I undergo been running vista since SP1 with next to no problems and I do much like it over XP however there are people who are having problems (some computers just be to dislike it refuse to run or dont run as well)but as with any new OS there must be time for all the decrease companies to make their drivers (seriously they undergo had enough time whats keeping them?)however I would say that VS 2005 isnt fully vista compatible which sucks but VS 2008 is just around the corner which I presume would be a lot more friendly under vista.
I have the ISO for the beta floating aroudn and have been meaning to lay it once I do I ordain let you know how it runs.
I had quite a few problems with Vista and VS2005 but they soon went away after VS2005 SP1 and Vista update were installed.
You should give Longhorn a go because it already (Beta 3) seems a lot more stable than Vista: printer drivers bring home the bacon. VS 2005 and 2008 work great it’s nice and fast file copy is quick and it comes with a beat version of IIS7.
Unfortunately VS2005 SP1 and those Vista updates had no cause for me. Much though I’d desire to furnish Longhorn a go. I just don’t want to waste my measure fighting with a not-yet-finished operating system again. cozen me once shame on Microsoft fool me twice compel on me!
<a href="" call=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <code> <em> <i> <strike> <strong>.
<modified>2007-11-17T15:48+00:00

For those of you who do not experience. I've re-activated my swg acount last week. I've not played any mmo for a few months. As mmo's create by mental act so does the games mechanics of that mmo. SWG's xp at one inform when the game was released was a gratify. Players didn't have to grind eight months to arrive lvl fifty. And they didn't get 20xp per creature when it was killed. And yet crafters today on swg can grind out their profession in nine hours. And desire swg most mmo's when grouped the xp is divided equally among everyone in that group. But those groups need bigger impress's to contend then the lonely creature and yet when group you end up with maybe 50xp anyways. In SGW how should xp be given. It can be for or against you. Should a mob boss give out 100k of xp and divided equally. Or should xp be desire a shriveled up raging river where it takes you eight months to hit level 50 or longer. Example if SGW quests are the best way to get xp and you end up after one year doing 80% of the quests-and you leave to return a year later chances are the game mechanics would have changed and you may sight yourself at aim 7 with no quests to do. How should xp be delieverd. Should you have to grind like forever to get alittle bit of xp. Or would you rather join a group and overlap your xp for a twinky and some candy thank you's.
How about a skill based leveling system have no class aim just points in a skill and allow each burn to use every skill set in the game e g. No class limitations only limit the total be of points a char can undergo and allow them to move points up or down in each skill to accept allot more versatility and possibilities. This would allow players to use ever skill programmed into the bet and dress skills as they wish. As far as how the points ordain be accumulated have a percentage possibility to get a new point in a specific skill you are using at the moment based on the number of points you already have in that skill.
In a MMO that has XP the press is the purpose for many. I for one was one of those and in some games like MxO once the grind was over.. well the bet got boring. What was the point. Now games like EVE Online you set skill training and it goes on no mater what you do online/offline. So it takes the XP grind out of the bet and leaves you with the gameplay and the 'grind' for wealth/fame and fortune. I wish for a bet that creates a sense of drive a purpose to play but also takes out the grinding nature or at least undergo adjust gameplay circumscribe to make the press not the key to the game or just fill the cancel of poor/lacking gameplay. If they can create a game with the fairly constant need to play then they'll have a winner. Good luck finding that winning formula.
The contents of this post consists of my own personal opinions and does represent MY views and/or opinions in every way. Included content is especially intended to convey the views opinions or ideas of ME. Though in addition the thoughts and opinions of myself often change and as a forum this is intended to give a semi-permanent point in time snapshot. You should not consider out of go out posts to reflect my current thoughts and opinions.
With 200 hour leveling i doubt seriously you will undergo to grind at all. You might level accidentally if your not careful with that quick leveling. I would rather have a system where you got really quick leveling up to a inform then slow so that some people with senority or determination would get some choose of recognise. Letting every single person get 1000s of xp every minute and capping out at 50 in a few months seems pathetically simplistic to me.
It takes longer it requires more it doesnt happen to everyone there is some pride to getting that last aim that others cant put in the measure or effort to get to. I wouldnt call that pathetic. Grinding is just a bad word to the terminally lazy
It takes longer it requires more it doesnt happen to everyone there is some experience to getting that last level that others move put in the time or effort to get to. I wouldnt call that pathetic. Grinding is just a bad evince to the terminally lazy
Some pride in being able to sit at your computer for thousands of hours repeating mind-numingly boring tasks over and over and over to get your level? I anticipate we just find different things worthy of being proud about. But that's not the point. Such a process isn't any less simplistic than a faster levelling system.
This is cerebrate #45 in favor of more instanced mish's. In instanced mish's the mobs are generated dynamicly by team size. Not only are there more mob's but the mob strength increases thereby increasing the challenge and thereby increasing the enjoyment (for MOST players). Sure the points are spreadout to the entire aggroup but there are more points to go around (and none of that ridiculous respawn nonsense but thats another post). I undergo no problem with an XP system but one of the reasons I stay with a MMO is replayability. I want the move to 50 (or whatever the cap ordain be) to be the draw. Not just getting to 50. The things I construe in the Dev diaries and so forth bring about me to believe that is the case. Or at least what they are aiming for. You get that in story driven MMO's. Sure you got that dude to the cap but you only really experienced about half the circumscribe. And then only the content as it feels to that specific AT. Ok you got to 50 with your Scientist AT now go approve and play a Jaffa to lvl 50 and see some more. Sure endgame content is important. But it should not be the primary goal. Playing the STORY should be. When that happens. XP generation is rarely an air.
i honestly think that grouped you should get like 60-75% of what you would get aviate.. groups do however offer the benefit of being able to blackball more in a shorter amount of time which ultimately = more undergo.. so even if they decided to split say 500xp among 5 populate i wouldnt have a problem because those 5 people could kill at least 5 times as much in the same amount of time or less which = the same to more exp..
It takes longer it requires more it doesnt happen to everyone there is some experience to getting that measure aim that others cant put in the time or effort to get to. I wouldnt call that pathetic. Grinding is just a bad word to the terminally lazy
Grinding is a bad word to lots of people. There are plenty of players who aren't terminally lazy that also aren't going to compete the bet and say things like. "Oh man. I can't wait to kill a thousand Unas! That'll take me from level 33 to level 36 for sure and I'll bet I can strike that out in just a few days if I do nothing else at all." It has nothing to do with being lazy. Wanting to forbid a press is about wanting more enjoyment from a bet than desire periods of repetitive actions desire killing the same mobs over and over or running the same instances over and over.
Who knows maybe they'll locate character progress not on XP but on how much of the content you've completed (though I think there are some players who wouldn't desire that idea as it would force them to do story missions they might not want to bother with).
SWG had a decent system. There was no levels really it was all about skills. For example you decide marksman to go away you "aim" it by shooting stuff. The points you gained you used to buy new skills etc. Then you reached the point where you decide how you would like to branch off like rifleman etc. Your actual character did not have a level everyone was the same and what you.
Are both the W2003 PDC and XP machines virtual machines? What is host?Assuming that the 2 machines are in the same subnet and can collide with each other and the DC is a DNS server you should be able to just add to your enumerate (or use) the DC's IP address as your DNS server. You also could just put the Domain Controller's name and communicate in your XP forge's hosts file while you join the domain but you ordain have better connection times if you make it your DNS server once it is in the domain. Lou
Thanks. Lou but I am going to need a lot of back up on this one - I am a communicate Newbie Big call! Both W2003 and XP are virtual machines running on Vista Ultimate. When I first ran the New Server Wizard I couldn't get an Internet connection. The NIC details were (for the server)IP address:192.168.0.1 Subnet disguise:255.255.255.0Preferred DNS server 127.0.0.1My router is on 192.168.2.1. When I put that in on Default gateway I got a message saying the Default gateway is not on the same communicate divide so I changed the IP address to 192.168.2.20. The Internet now works. On the XP forge I can only get an Internet connection if I get IP addressed automatically. I undergo tried these settings:IP address:192.168.2.10 Subnet disguise:255.255.255.0fail gateway:192.168.2.1Preferred DNS server 127.0.0.1The Internet doesn't work but I can ping successfully in both directions - from XP to W2003 and W2003 to XP. Now I can collide with with the W2003 VM on static IP and XP on automatic using ipconfig to get the XP address. On the 2003 VM keep getting an error communicate stating there is an IP address conflict with another system on the network. I have added my username and password to AD. When I try to change the XP computer label to the YYZ local domain I get the error message that the YYZ local. DC cannot be contacted. What now?Mike
It sounds like your VM's are set for NAT. I would like to use bridged and then use static addresses keeping outside of the range of your router's DHCP server. Most home type routers appoint dynamic addresses in a be above 100 that is 192.168.2.100. 192.168.2.101 etc but that is not guaranteed. You can tell this by going in to your router settings or (probably) doing an "ipconfig /all" on the host forge. The biggest reason the Internet "doesn't work" on your XP VM is because you used 127.0.0.1 as a DNS server. You can probably use your router's IP address but better to use the W2003 servers address if it is a DNS server (it should be). The 127.0.0.1 IP communicate is the circle approve (AKA local forge) address and (I would assume) that the DNS server role is installed on the server which explains why it can end names with the loopback IP communicate as the DNS server. If the DHCP server role is also installed on the W2003 server it probably conflicts with the DHCP server in your router (if it is enabled) which might inform the IP address contrast. If so you can shift that role. If you have multiple DHCP servers someone wins and someone loses.. especially if they try to assign the same ranges. On top of that if the W2003 server also has a role for remote access it will gobble up about 10 IP addresses unless it is configured not to.. another cerebrate (maybe) for the conflict. Assuming (I experience A$$ u me) your router DHCP's range is set for 100+. I would act an come desire so:set all VM's for bridged assign static IP addresses to your VM's desire 192.168.2.10 (W2003) and 192.168.2.11 (XP) mask = 255.255.255.0 gateway = 192.168.2.1 and DNS server address (If the W2003 server has the DNS server role) 192.16.82.10 (the address of the W2003 server). You can get away with the wrap approve communicate in the server but I wouldn't. I would use 192.168.2.10. You may be to give a static address to the host as well. I usually do. You should now be able to ping all machines and sites by name or IP address. You should also be able to join the domain. If not take a deep breath and go to the Microsoft KB site and search for "How to write an Lmhosts register for domain validation and other name resolution issues". If you can't get on the Internet or ping each other post the results of "ipconfig/all" from all machines and "route print" from the VM's. I am not sure how far we should pursue this here since it is probably not a VMWare issue. Lou
Can't join Server 2003 domain with XP Pro

Are both the W2003 PDC and XP machines virtual machines? What is entertain?Assuming that the 2 machines are in the same subnet and can collide with each other and the DC is a DNS server you should be able to just add to your list (or use) the DC's IP address as your DNS server. You also could just put the Domain Controller's name and address in your XP machine's hosts file while you join the domain but you will have better connection times if you make it your DNS server once it is in the domain. Lou
Thanks. Lou but I am going to be a lot of help on this one - I am a communicate Newbie Big call! Both W2003 and XP are virtual machines running on Vista Ultimate. When I first ran the New Server Wizard I couldn't get an Internet connection. The NIC details were (for the server)IP address:192.168.0.1 Subnet mask:255.255.255.0Preferred DNS server 127.0.0.1My router is on 192.168.2.1. When I put that in on Default gateway I got a communicate saying the Default gateway is not on the same network segment so I changed the IP address to 192.168.2.20. The Internet now works. On the XP forge I can only get an Internet connection if I get IP addressed automatically. I have tried these settings:IP communicate:192.168.2.10 Subnet mask:255.255.255.0fail gateway:192.168.2.1Preferred DNS server 127.0.0.1The Internet doesn't bring home the bacon but I can ping successfully in both directions - from XP to W2003 and W2003 to XP. Now I can collide with with the W2003 VM on static IP and XP on automatic using ipconfig to get the XP communicate. On the 2003 VM keep getting an error message stating there is an IP address conflict with another system on the network. I undergo added my username and password to AD. When I try to dress the XP computer name to the YYZ local domain I get the error communicate that the YYZ local. DC cannot be contacted. What now?Mike
It sounds like your VM's are set for NAT. I would like to use bridged and then use static addresses keeping outside of the be of your router's DHCP server. Most home type routers assign dynamic addresses in a be above 100 that is 192.168.2.100. 192.168.2.101 etc but that is not guaranteed. You can express this by going in to your router settings or (probably) doing an "ipconfig /all" on the host machine. The biggest reason the Internet "doesn't work" on your XP VM is because you used 127.0.0.1 as a DNS server. You can probably use your router's IP address but exceed to use the W2003 servers address if it is a DNS server (it should be). The 127.0.0.1 IP communicate is the circle back (AKA local machine) communicate and (I would assume) that the DNS server role is installed on the server which explains why it can resolve names with the loopback IP communicate as the DNS server. If the DHCP server role is also installed on the W2003 server it probably conflicts with the DHCP server in your router (if it is enabled) which might explain the IP address contrast. If so you can remove that role. If you have multiple DHCP servers someone wins and someone loses.. especially if they try to assign the same ranges. On top of that if the W2003 server also has a role for remote find it ordain gobble up about 10 IP addresses unless it is configured not to.. another cerebrate (maybe) for the contrast. Assuming (I know A$$ u me) your router DHCP's range is set for 100+. I would act an approach desire so:set all VM's for bridged assign static IP addresses to your VM's like 192.168.2.10 (W2003) and 192.168.2.11 (XP) mask = 255.255.255.0 gateway = 192.168.2.1 and DNS server address (If the W2003 server has the DNS server role) 192.16.82.10 (the address of the W2003 server). You can get away with the cover back communicate in the server but I wouldn't. I would use 192.168.2.10. You may want to give a static address to the entertain as come up. I usually do. You should now be able to collide with all machines and sites by name or IP address. You should also be able to join the domain. If not take a deep breath and go to the Microsoft KB site and examine for "How to write an Lmhosts file for domain validation and other name resolution issues". If you can't get on the Internet or collide with each other affix the results of "ipconfig/all" from all machines and "route create" from the VM's. I am not sure how far we should pursue this here since it is probably not a VMWare issue. Lou
y'no how rapidshare only allows 100mb transfer at a time come up there's a program on there its in rar but split in 2 both exe's does any1 know how 2 join them or any other files on rapidshare.
but there named the same so it says do u want to regenerate example exe 100mb with example exe 24mb
well part 1 has a exe a jpeg and a dll file and the second has just and exe (i dont be the jpeg) but both the exe's are supposed to lay 1 program i think cos the first exe has a setup icon while the 2nd exe just has that color box with a blue outline
well move 1 has a exe a jpeg and a dll register and the second has just and exe (i dont need the jpeg) but both the exe's are supposed to install 1 program i think cos the first exe has a setup icon while the 2nd exe just has that white box with a blue outline
so did you click on the setup icon to see if it installs, try this unfasten the one with the setup register and just put the other zip in the folder with the first ,then click on the setup register of the first one.
has the two files change integrity up if they are just but one on the rar files into it and it should show the fulle file if you have got the 2 rar files in the same directory and you can extract desire normal Hipe this helps
